Heimana Reynolds breaks down his slam at the 2014 Vans Pool Party

“A few years ago I chose to make the switch from a regular soft foam helmet to the S1 Lifer Helmet and I am very glad for that because I know that helmet saved my life.” – Heimana Reynolds

”Thank god for the S1 Lifer Helmet.” – Matt Reynolds

“Without rambling on about a bunch of helmet mumbo jumbo I can break it down like this – soft foam helmets do not protect your head all that well in the case of a serious slam. The impact energy goes right through the soft foam and rattles your brain super bad. There have been a few (a few too many) pro and am skaters that have suffered Traumatic Brain Injuries after slamming in a soft foam helmet. And a TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) is bad because sometimes you have loss of memory or mood swings or depression or dizziness that can last for months and years after the TBI.  Life is hard enough as it is – you don’t need to be dealing with stuff like that. TBI’s are not good. The S1 Lifer Helmet is constructed with EPS Fusion foam and the high impact energy gets absorbed (dispersed) by the foam and 5x less energy rattles brain. Just to be clear, there is no magic helmet that prevents all head injuries but test lab results show that the S1 Lifer Helmet protects the brain at least 5x more than regular “soft foam” skate helmets.

We test every batch of S1 Lifer Helmets to make sure they meet the multiple cert and the high impact cert. The Eps fusion foam needs to be blended just right – not too hard and not too soft – to pass both tests with flying colors. Some of the bigger helmet companies test their helmets maybe 1x a year and they never really know if the foam was as good as it should be. When I saw Heimana slam I knew for sure that he was wearing the best helmet possible. ”  - Dan McCashin  (Co-Owner S1 Helmet Co.) #danfroms1

“Just wanted to thank you guys for making such amazing helmets! Took a rough slam yesterday on a 540 at the vert jungle event in Pismo beach and cracked the foam and the shell of my helmet! No concussion! If I wasn’t wearing the Lifer I’m sure it would have been a lot worse! Thanks for saving my head!” – Aidan Dansey

“The S1 Lifer Helmet is 5x more protective than regular skate helmets.”

Scizzors- Field report from Miami 06/02/14

“Reason I share the following is to give credit to a great company for making a great product. I really wish I could stop putting their product to the test, but slamming is just an inescapable part of skating. I hung up on a backside air yesterday sending me to the flat, leaving me laid out. Was a little woozy, but no headache, no blurred vision. S1 Helmets Lifer’s hard foam took the impact dispersing the energy and cracked like it’s supposed to. Bruised shoulder, swellbow, possibly bruised ribs under peck, sore neck, but all that will heal in time, just glad that when I move my head around today I’m not feeling bruising in my brain and for that I’m forever grateful to S-One and the Lifer helmet.” – Adam Effertz aka Scizzors.

Heimana Reynolds / Slam / S1 Lifer Helmet

Heimana Reynolds. 1st year in the Pro Division at the Vans Pool Party. And his runs are insane. Kid is on fire. And then he over rotates on a big backside air and in a split second is headed for the worst slam of his life.

If he wasn’t wearing a helmet he might have died. Head explosion. And if he had a soft foam non-certified helmet on he probably would have been knocked out for at least 5 minutes and had the full body spams and probable traumatic brain injury. But… he was wearing an S1 Lifer Helmet. The S1 Lifer Helmet is constructed with EPS Fusion Foam which protects your head and minimizes high impacts. He def got knocked out for a few seconds. But he came through ok. And he walked out of the bowl with some help. The medics checked him out and he was ok’d to finish his heat. He ended up placing 12th place in his first year skating in Vans Pool Party.

Like most skaters, Heimana grew up wearing the soft foamy non-certified helmets and he just switched to the more protective S1 Lifer Helmet last year.

“He KO’d for a few seconds and he was able to do his 3rd skate run and walk away from this slam with a headache and no memory loss or life threatening conditions.” – Matt Reynolds (Heimana’s Dad)

“Thank god for the S1 Lifer Helmet.” – Matt Reynolds

Skate Legends Jeff Grosso and Eddie “El Gato” Elguera came down to help.

Eddie “El Gato” Elguera / S1 Lifer Helmet

“I ride the S1 Lifer Helmet because it is the best helmet out there on the market.” Eddie “El Gato” Elguera

S1 filmer and editor Robert Crawford headed out to The Yard in Palm Springs to meet up with skateboarding legend Eddie “El Gato” Elguera. Eddie was a 2x World Champion back in the late 70′s early 80′s, he was the first person to do a Frontside Rock n Roll and Fakie Rock n Roll and invented the Elguerial. His friends called him El Gato cause his skating was smooth like a cat. Eddie is over 50 now and still skates on the regular and still rips!

A few years ago Eddie was wearing a soft foam non-certified helmet and he tried on an S1 Lifer Helmet. He loved the fit and he liked the fact that the Lifer was going to offer more protection than the soft foam helmets. He was been wearing the S1 Lifer Helmet ever since.

If you are looking for a helmet we highly recommend the S1 Lifer Helmet. It fits great and it is fully certified to offer the best head protection. The Lifer meets the ASTM multiple impact standard, the CPSC high impact standard, the Australian and New Zealand helmet impact standards and the British high impact standard.

If you love skateboarding and you wear a helmet – def check out the S1 Lifer Helmet for you and your friends and family.
