How was the trip to Colombia? The trip was super sick. Most definitely going back one day. Where did you stay? In Bogota with Alex and Chela then we stayed at the Wepa House while we were in Cali, and with Carolina Ospina in Medellin. Daily diet? Empanadas and Coffee Favorite sessions? We had a pretty killer session my last day before I went back to Canada Favorite party? Leonera after party was real fun Things that scared you? The hills we’re so gnarly that it was survival mode skating and trying to make it down in one piece Any crazy stories? We were driving back to Bogota and our rental car decided to stop working and leak oil everywhere so we pull over and see a motorcyclist and semi truck crash. Any lessons? Keep your backpack with you all the time Any realizations? Skaters are cool anywhere you go. What is your current board set up? The Valhalla Sho Stopper with Paris Savants 50/43, and usually 83a Cages
Will Royce has a fascination with latin countries. Maybe it’s the cheap beer, the lack of traffic laws, or the women, but most likely all three. During his most recent visit to Colombia he went for a rip down Pablo Escobar’s driveway. During a wet run Alex Ameen ran over and snapped his board in half. Like a true warrior Bill finished the run regardless.

Interesting info: this video had 500k views on Facebook.com/s1helmets in less than 24 hours. And it had 8000 shares and 1,000 comments. That is alot of views for an S1 video.
“In 2010 we noticed some vert skaters, downhill skaters, BMX riders and Roller Derby participants were getting knocked out and in some instances getting traumatic brain injuries in traditional soft foam skate helmets. So we took the soft foam helmets into the testing lab and learned that the impact energy goes directly through the soft foam helmets and rattles the brain. So we set out to make a better and safer helmet. We came up with the S1 Lifer Helmet. The S1 Lifer Helmet is constructed with EPS Fusion Foam and is 5x more protective than soft foam skate helmets. The S1 Lifer Helmet passes the ASTM multiple impact test (soft foam helmets fail this test) and the S1 Lifer Helmet passes the CPSC high impact test (soft foam helmets also fail this test).
We have taken steps to educate the public about the S1 Lifer Helmet through videos and printed media. Most skaters and parents did not know that traditional skate helmets did not pass any helmet safety standards. They usually only learned the difference after a head injury and that is too late. A Mom who watched her 15 year old son get knocked out for 5 long minutes in the bottom of a pool while wearing a soft foam helmet later said to me,” I didn’t know there was a difference between the S1 Lifer Helmet and soft foam skate helmets. We bought the soft foam helmet at a skateshop and just figured it was a good helmet. I really wish I knew before”.
We made a helmet that we would want to wear. And a helmet we could 100% recommend to family, friends and team riders. When you are wearing an S1 Lifer Helmet you know that you are wearing the best. And if you own a skateshop you know you are offering the best to your skate community.” – Dan McCashin Co Founder/ S1 Helmets
